It
was during the summer 1987 when some guards from the area
decided to make the trek in just one day. Someone called
that the Carros de Foc. From then on,
in winter or summer, word immediately spreads when someone
makes the trek in one day, "Today
the Carros de Foc is coming through".
The news spreads from one refuge to another as fast as
the wind crosses the passes!. Today, may years after the
first Carros de Foc took place, the trek
still exists, with more and quicker people with each passing
day. We encourage hikers, mountaineers and runners to
know these mountains and then reward all those people
who are able to finish such a hard race, which is the
Carros de Foc.
The itinerary of the Carros de Foc consists of passing
the nine refuges which are maintained at the moment. The
difficult nature of this route and our deep respect for
the environment makes us avoid all possible kinds of conventional
competition.
Neither the order, the day nor the time you choose matter
at all. You are not going to compete against anyone else,
only with yourself, testing yourself in the toughest route
you have ever seen..

Pallars,
Alta Ribagorça and Val d'Aran include

Park of Aigües Tortes and Llac de Sant Maurici,
one of the most beautiful areas in the Catalan Pyrennes:
Discovering these places has been one of the main goals of
many mountaineers. That may be the reason why some refuges
have been built in the region.
They were built to make treks easier and nowadays they have
become a part of the landscape. Nowadays there is a total
of nine maintained refuges, which allows hikers to cover the
basic route of the area from 5 to 7 days. |

1 – Permanently elevate the level of satisfaction and fidelity of its clients offering the services which respond to their needs and maintain the establish standards.
2 – Deep respect for the Environment. Conserve and maintain the trails' signs as done in the past and is common in the high mountain with “cairns” (signs made with stones) respecting the rules established by the Aigüestortes and Sant Maurici's Lake National Park:
3 – Maintain and inform the client about the philosophy of the high mountain refugees, with all their differences, ensuring that all regulations are followed.
4 – To ensure the availability of resources, in accordance of their priority, to maintain the established standards.
5 – Give the most complete and detailed information possible, having the completion of the circuit on behalf of the client as the final objective.
6 – The completion of the above points shall be based on the collective effort of the Organization through which the standards have been developed. . |
